Celebi Mehmed (Green) Social Complex, was built upon order of V. Ottoman Sultan Celebi Sultan Mehmed, between 1413-1421. The social complex consist of a mosque, a tomb, a madrash, a poorhouse and a bath. The architect of this set of buildings is Hadji İvaz Pasha and the hand carvings and ornaments are the works of Naqqash (muralist) Ali Bin Ilyas and Mehmed el Mecnun. The building of Yesil Cami, one of the most paramount speciments of the Early Ottoman Period, started during the reign of Celebi Mehmed and was complated during the reign of his son., Murad III. In 1422. The social complex incorporates the prime speciments of tille works, marble works, stonemasonry and wood works and ornamental arts. The Social Complex is in a sense, a sort of enunciation of the re-boom of the Ottoman State.
Celebi Mehmed in a sense who we can designate as the second founder of the Ottoman Empire, is the son of Yildirim Bayezid. The mother of Bayezid* Çelebi Mehmed born in 1379 is Devlet Hatun. Celebi Sultan Mehmed, during his reign betweeb 1413-1421 personally participated in 24 battles. He provided the union of Anatolia complately as a result of his endeavours. Candaroglu Seigniory was annexed into the lands of Ottomans during his reign. The first sea battle was made with the Venetleds in 1415. He organized many raids into Europe in 1416 and 1417 and he died in May 26th, 1421 in Edirne at the age of 42. His corpse was brought to Bursa and buried in Green Tomb.
